ISF Says Plastic Straws Can Suck It!

Posted by ISFKidsArmyVa on February 26, 2012 at 9:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Ian Somerhalder Foundation

For one month I am taking the ISF challenge and saying NO to straws. Why? Well because for one thing you can't reuse or recycle straws! They end up in the trash or floating in our oceans which is not cool for the environment or for marine animals because they can die from eating plastic. Please read this story about how we can all help save plastic by saying no to straws! After my one month challenge I will show you just how many straws I said no to! I"m just one person, imagine if 10 or 20 or even 100 people said no to straws how much plastic we could stop using!!

MY BIRTHDAY WISH!!!

Posted by ISFKidsArmyVa on January 3, 2012 at 7:05 PM Comments comments (1)

January 28 is my birthday and I will be turning 10! The big 10! I have a wish that hope everyone will help me with! My wish is that 10 animal shelters that are in need get help from people. It could be through donating food or supplies or people signing up for volunteer work. I would like to see at least 10 different shelters from all over the world get help and I want to see pictures of people helping and how they helped. Pleae help my wish come true...Animal shelters, the animals that live there and the people and volunteers that work there are all important to me. Did you know homeless pets outnumber homeless people 5 to 1? Please help my wish come true!!

If you want to help and want to send me pictures of you helping, please email them to:

ravenhayut@yahoo.com and put "birthday wish" in the subject line

Thanks for keeping my Rae of Hope shining!!!.

ISF Video Campaign Saying NO to Keystone Pipeline XL

Posted by ISFKidsArmyVa on November 5, 2011 at 2:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Please watch this video and listen to what the kids have to say. It's a very important message about the Keystone Pipeline XL and why us kids and the IS Foundation believe it shouldn't be built. Please share it with everyone you know. The decision will be made soon if it is going to be made or not so we need to join together to stop it!

First Ian Somerhalder Foundation Kids Event in Atlanta, Georgia

Posted by ISFKidsArmyVa on November 5, 2011 at 1:50 PM Comments comments (0)

On October 29, 2011 I attended the first ever Ian Somerhalder Foundation Kids Event in Atlanta, Georgia. As you know, I support the ISF and what it stands for which is to empower youth to stand up and take action. It educates us on the facts of our Earth today and the animals we share it with. I love them and I love being a part of the ISF family which is HUGE. It stretches over many different countries around the WORLD!

I was able to meet alot of the Kids Armies representing the different states and their parents. I made some new friends too! I also met alot of the volunteers that help make ISF what it is today. These are people that have families and jobs but they still find time to help us kids come together with our message to the world and they keep us edcuated about what we all can be doing within our own communites. I can't forget that Mr. Somerhalder himself was there too but he looked a little different. That's because he was dressed up as Captain Planet! All the kids really liked that and we all love him and how much he cares about our Earth and knowing how important it is to have us kids educated on what needs to be done.

Captain Planet answered alot of questions that kids and teens wanted real answers to like one teen wanted to know just how exactly we can help endangered animals. The answer? Starting with doing what we are doing right now..educating ourselves on what endangered animals are and how they got that way. i think all of us left that night feeling more inspired to keep it moving and to spread the word to our friends and family members.

Some of us kids got together and made a video to surprise Mr. Somerhalder as to what the IS Foundation means to us and how it has changed us or empowered us. I was one of those kids and it was really special to me to be able to be a part of that. Once I get a copy of the video I will share it with you because it is awesome to hear what some of the other kids had to say too!

After answering questions all of us attending were able to get together and share our thoughts and ideas about changes we would like to see be made within our own communities or worldwide.

It was a really fun night and I left feeling more power to make things right and I think the other kids and teens felt the same. Thanks ISF for an awesome night I will never forget!

You can check out the pictures of the night in my photos section!

Thanks for reading and until next time Keep that Rae of Hope!!!
